What NFL sacks is
Sacks MADE by a defender — edge rushers and interior linemen. Books quote it in quarter-points so a half-sack cannot push.
How we settle it. Graded against the DEFENSIVE stat group. The passing group carries an identically-named sacks column meaning sacks TAKEN; reading that one would grade a quarterback against his pass-rusher's market.
Every number on this page is measured against the live API, never copied from a spec sheet. Last measured 12 October 2026.
